Welcome to a new post about our cycling tour around Turkey.
On our 3rd day, we started riding from the coastal town Kuşadası where we camped on the beach on the way to the South of Türkiye. We didn’t know exactly how many kilometers we would be riding for or where we would be spending the night. The most important thing is that we have our own tent and when we feel tired, we pitch our tent and sleep. We packed our stuff, checked our bikes, and started cycling south. When we checked the road on the map, we saw that 70 km from our starting point, there is a huge lake, maybe a nice spot for camping.
Actually, it was just that. We saw the lake from a distance between the mountains. Unlike many other places around Türkiye, there were no big tourism projects near the lake or buildings.
There were just a few local restaurants in caravans and a few families selling local Turkish food. When we searched more, we learned that the lake is considered an important nature reserve. There were not many shops, that’s why we stopped many times to fill up our water bottles from locals on the way.
It was our first time in Türkiye riding such a distance without finding a place to buy food. Finally, we found a family making some kind of food, thin bread but big. They put on it cheese, potato, and some spinach. It’s called Gözleme. It’s really delicious and especially makes you full, so full. We had dinner and cycled a little further until we found, on the left side, a nice spot for camping. We still felt the salt on our bodies from the swim in Kuşadasi and the heat all the way. We seized the opportunity to jump in the lake, especially during the sunset. It was amazing.
It was kind of a hard day but nature here makes you forget the struggle A nice, calm night and especially waking up with a nice view, watching the lake and the mountains and the fishermen with their small boats.
That was our cycling tour from Kuşadası to Bafa Lake. A place that we recommend to visit when you come to Türkiye.
An amazing landscape of more than 70 km.
Tomorrow we’ll be cycling to Bodrum.
