Semia is well known among her family, friends and the Nomadic Bike’s community for her cooking skills and delicious food. When Volunteers visit Tunisia to help in Nomadic Bike project, she always introduce them to the Tunisian cuisine through her tasty “Couscous”, “Tunisian Tajine” and “Salade Mechweya”.
She also used to cook for big events and she love having visitors in her home despite having a small kitchen in a 60 years old house.
For her cooking, she pick her spices from different areas in Tunisia what make her meals flavory. For the rest of ingredients, she always walk to the neighborhood’s local market around 100 m away from home to buy fresh vegetables, fruits and meat.
What to expect ?
During your visit, you will have the chance to learn how to cook a traditional Tunisian “Couscous”, “Tunisian Tajine” and “Salata mechweya”.
All this food can be vegetarian so don’t worry if you want to skip meat this time.
Time?
You will walk for shopping from the local market at around 8:30 am and start preparing ingredients and cook at around 9 am. The local market is 3 minutes walking from her home. Food will be served at around 12 pm.
Price?
It will cost 80dinars/person including the shopping experience, the cooking class and having lunch with the family.
This project is created to support financially the “Stay-at-home-mothers” and help them make a living while taking care of home.

2 minutes walking from Semia’s place, there are 2 amazing museums that you can visit:
Museum of Bardo and museum Ksar said that you can visit while food is taking time to be cooked or after having lunch.
You can also rent a bike from the same place to ride to the Medina of Tunis (4 km away), Belvedere parc (3km away) , Japanese park (5 km away) or lac of Tunis (7 km away).
